SCHOOL SCREENING WITH JHARKHAND SHIKSHA PARIYOJNA 2007- 2009

In the battle against blindness, a curse to the human life Kashyap Memorial Eye Bank has also taken care of five lakhs government school going children in EYE checkup and treatment project with Jharkhand Education project. These children are studying in government schools of various blocks of Ranchi. The trust surveyed and found 82% visually handicapped kids were suffering from refractive error, 6.5 % from retinal problems, 3% from Cataract, 4% from amblyopia, 1.7 % from squint, 3.3 % had congenitally less developed eyes and 3% had corneal blindness. The school-screening project was done in two phases. Vitamin A deficiencies and common eye problems are treated in the first phase in the school premises itself and visually challenged children were brought to the base hospital in the second phase for refraction and retina checkup. 1000 school children are given spectacles free of cost. Furthermore students are made aware of importance of nutritious Diet to avoid Vitamin A deficiency. They were informed about the precautions while playing to avoid eye injury.

These children are studying in government schools of various blocks of Ranchi. 350 school kids are given spectacles free of cost by The Kashyap Memorial Eye Hospital. No. of kids examine 8000.



ASSESSMENT CAMP FOR SPECIAL NEEDS KIDS WITH JHARKHAND EDUCATION PROJECT IN NOVEMBER.2009

These children are studying in government schools of various blocks of Ranchi. 150 school children were given spectacles free of cost by Jharkhand Education Project. 770 children were examined .They were made aware of Eye Donation.



DIABETIC RETINOPATHY PROJECT WITH IAS WIVES ASSOCIATION (2009)

We have treated 20 poor patients suffering from diabetic retinopathy with Laser treatment and Costly Intravitreal Avastin injections. We have targeted Diabetic population in slum areas, as it is the avoidable blindness and priority area in VISION 2020 Project



PAEDIATRIC CATARACT SURGERY PROJECT (2010)

We operated 17 eyes of 11 underprivileged children who were suffering from cataract.



HUMAN TRAFFICKING VICTIMS CAMP (2010)

Human Trafficking victims Camp with ATSEC, Asha Kiran, IAS Wives Association, Jharkhand Police Department Health Department, Jharkhand –

We screened 1070 ‘Human Trafficking Victims’ kids mainly in two areas. Fudi (770 kids) and Burmu (300 kids). Out of which we referred 122 kids for further management and prescribed glasses for 80 kids. (2010)



WORLD GLAUCOMA WEEK – 6TH TO 13TH MARCH (2011)

We started World Glaucoma Week from Old Age Home inhabitants because the elderly population is more prone to develop glaucoma, then we went to elderly population of slum dwellers with the help of Ward Counsellors. We screened all the people susceptible (Old age, family history of glaucoma), those who needed medicines were given medicines. 50 patients were given Anti Glaucoma medication and then were operated for combined cataract and Glaucoma.



PAEDIATRIC CATARACT SURGERY PROJECT(2011)

in 2010 we operated 17 eyes of 12 underprivileged children who were suffering from cataract and in 2011 we aimed Hi-Tech Cataract Surgery for 50 underprivileged children suffering from cataract with the help of State Bank of India.



OLD AGE HOME PROJECT (2011

24th Feb 2011 All the inhabitants of Old Age Home underwent complete eye checkup. 14 old age home people were screened. Out of which 11 people were given spectacles free of cost. 04 people found to be suffering from cataract were operated on 28th of February 2011 with the latest 2.2mm Hi-Tech Technology of the Phaco Operation System with Foldable IOL.



SLUM DWELLERS PROJECT (2011)

We screened 500 people from 25th Feb to 16th March out of which 350 patients were given spectacles and 150 were operated for cataract and few were operated for both cataract with Pterygium. Out of 150 those who were 80 plus age were operated by the latest 2.2mm Hi-Tech Phaco Cataract Technology with INTRAPID FLUIDIC SYSTEM with Foldable IOL and other were operated by Hi-Tech suture less cataract surgery with IOL



PHUSRO MEGA HI- TECH CATARACT SURGERY EYE CAMP – 2010 & 2012

In 2010 we operated 100 patients suffering from cataract. They were brought to The Kashyap’s Memorial Eye Hospital after Assessment camp at Phusro for visually challenged people
In 2012 Mega eye camp was organized at Phusro where 1000 people screened out of which 200 patients found suffering from cataract were operated by the latest 2.2mm Hi-Tech Phaco Cataract Technology with INTRAPID FLUIDIC SYSTEM with Foldable IOL.



SPASTIC CHILDREN SCREENING PROGRAMME – 2012

On 29th of July, a screening camp for Spastic Children was organized. Total 50 children along with their guardian were screened out of which 20 Children were found to have been suffering from Critical Eye diseases. For which they were given medicines free of cost.



PROJECT WITH BHARTIYA KISAN SANGH AND ATSEC: 2012
(MANDAR, BIJUPADA, CHANHO AND NAMKUM)

The Kashyap Memorial Eye Bank with the help of BKS/ATSEC organized a camp at Kasturba Mahila Vidayalay located at Mandar and screened over 300 girls including the Human Trafficking victim girls from Bharti Kishori Niketan, Bijupada. Out of which 50 girls were found having refractive error and were referred to the base hospital. Two more eye camp was conducted at Chanho and Namkum in the next month.



SARANDA MEGA HI-TECH CHILDHOOD AND ADULT CATARACT SURGERY PROJECT: (26TH JANUARY TO 23RD MARCH)

We Screened 2000 thousand patients, most of them were detected with Cataract, Refractive Error & Pterygium. We operated 250 patients for Phaco Cataract Surgery with Foldable IOL maintaining the quality standard of NABH. 32.5 % Patients were found to be suffering from cataract, 34.9 % of patients needed glasses, 2% were losing vision because of Pterygium & 4 % were suffering from corneal problems. We distributed 1000 vitamin A capsules to the vitamin A deficiency children.
In the eye camp for 56 villages of Saranda Action plan we have operated 250 poor people suffering from Cataract with High-tech Phaco Cataract Surgery with Foldable Intra Ocular Lens Implantation. Among them were 10 Cataractous eyes of children also which have been operated with premium foldable IOLs. We screened 270 children at base hospital & gave them 200 premium GKB Glasses free of Cost.



SILLI MEGA HI-TECH CAMP, SILLI, RANCHI. (STARTED ON 4th AUGUST 2013)

Every month on 4th a free eye camp is organized in Silli more than 200 patients are benefitted in each camp.

We did eye checkup of 25 inhabitants of Old Age Home & gave them premium GKB Glasses free of Cost.



HAWKERS EYE CHECK UP CAMP WITH PRABHAT KHABAR (18th JULY 2013)

We did eye checkup of 100 poor Hawkers & gave them GKB glasses at 50 % concession & provided investigation facilities at 50 % concession.



MEGA HI-TECH CHILDHOOD AND ADULT CATARACT SURGERY PROJECT FOR SARYU ACTION PLAN VILLAGES: (30th JULY 2013)

We screened Two thousand patients; most of them were detected with Cataract, Refractive Error, and Corneal Problem & Pterygium. 24.9 Patients were found to be suffering from cataract, 35 % of patients needed glasses, 2% were losing vision because of Pterygium & 4 % were suffering from corneal problems. We distributed 3000 vitamin A capsules to the vitamin A deficiency children. We operated 184 eyes of adults & 16 eyes of children for Phaco Cataract Surgery with Foldable IOL maintaining the quality standard of NABH , out of which & We screened 200 children at base hospital & gave them 110 premium GKB Glasses free of Cost.



SCHOOL SCREENING CAMP (8th OCTOBER, 2013)

A School Screening Camp was organised on 8th October, 2013 at Rashtirya Prathmik Vidhyalaya, Behind Women's College, Nagra Toli (Ward 02) by Lions Club. Total 58 school going children were screened and appropriate treatment were given to the needy. Out of which 22 patients were found to have refractive Error and 1 patient had Signs and Symptoms of Vitamin A deficiency.



ULEHATU EYE CAMP (15th NOVEMBER 2013)

An eye check-up was organised by Jharkhand Government on the eve of Jharkhand Sthapna Diwas at Ulehatu, Khunti which is the birth place of Bhagwan Birsa Munda. We screened 200 people out which 10 people were referred to the base hospital for Cataract Surgery and 20 people were referred for Refractive error. All were treated free of cost at Kashyap Memorial Eye Hospital.

An eye check-up camp was organised at Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya, Chanho in association ATSEC and Bharitya Kisan Sangh. We screened 400 under privileged girls and victims of Human trafficking out of which 50 girls were referred to the Kashyap Memorial Eye Hospital for refraction.



MANDAR CAMP - HUMAN TRAFFICKING & UNDER PRIVILEGED GIRLS (08th JANUARY 2014)

An eye check-up camp was organised at Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya, Mandar in association ATSEC and Bharitya Kisan Sangh. We screened 250 under privileged girls and victims of Human trafficking out of which 30 girls were referred to the Kashyap Memorial Eye Hospital for refraction.



NAMKUM CAMP - HUMAN TRAFFICKING & UNDER PRIVILEGED GIRLS (12th JANUARY 2014)

An eye check-up camp was organised at Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya, Namkum in association ATSEC and Bharitya Kisan Sangh. We screened 300 under privileged girls and victims of Human trafficking out of which 35 girls were referred to the Kashyap Memorial Eye Hospital for refraction.



PALAMU MEGA HI-TECH CHILDHOOD AND ADULT CATARACT SURGERY PROJECT (13th JANUARY 2014 TO 25TH FEBRUARY 2014)

We Did screening of 5 lakhs Government school going poor children with the help of para teachers of Jharkhand Shiksha Pariyojna We screened 3100 patients (Adult – 941, Child- 2160); most of them were detected with Cataract, Refractive Error, and Corneal Problem. 312 Patients were found to be suffering from cataract, 475 of patients needed glasses, 103 patients were found having retinal problem, 156 were having Lid and other associated diseases and 105 were found having under developed eye we distributed 2000 vitamin A capsules to the vitamin A deficiency children. We operated 150 eyes of adults & 50 eyes of children for Phaco Cataract Surgery with Foldable IOL maintaining the quality standard of NABH , We did refraction of 475 children at base hospital and later on at Palamu through our Mobile Vision Canter unit and gave them 475 premium GKB Glasses free of Cost.



VIDHAN SABHA EYE CHECK-UP CAMP-25-02-2014

On request of Government of Jharkhand, a camp was organised in the Jharkhand Vidhan Sabha campus. Major Hospitals of Ranchi had participated in the camp.
We screened 300 patients and did refraction of 215 patients



EYE CAMP AT YES BANK RANCHI – 11-04-2014

An eye check-up camp was organized at YES BANK Ranchi branch after the request of YES BANK. We screened 60 people, we did refraction of 50 people at the camp spot and 15 people were referred to the Base Hospital for further management.



VISION FOR RURAL JHARKHAND CAMPAIGN ON 08/08/2014

Launch of campaign Vision for Rural Jharkhand at ATI auditorium. The programme was inaugurated by Ashok Bhagat, President, Vikas Bharti and Dr. Bharti Kashyap, Founder Director of Kashyap Memorial Eye Hospital, and on this pious occasion 2000 coupons were distributed in the villages, village chief & Bikash Bharti Coordinators. As we are aware that Jharkhand blindness is twice the national blindness rate and therefore this innovative campaign taken under vision 2020 project for reducing the rate of blindness. In the campaign it’s been assured for poor patient that Introduction of new technology in the field of Ophthalmology will contribute to reduce the blindness rate and poor people should not remain deprived of better eye treatment.



VISION FOR RURAL JHARKHAND CAMPAIGN ON 16/08/2014

After successful inauguration of the campaign we visited Honorable CM “Hemant Soren ji, and we have given 2000 coupon, for distribution in the state villages, and discussed about the prime focus & target to reduce the blindness from the rural area of Jharkhand under the charitable programme “Vision for rural Jharkhand” by Kashyap Memorial Eye Hospital.



EYE SCREENING CAMP AT JAGARNATHPUR, RANCHI - 02-09-2014

An eye check-up camp was organised at Jagarnathpur, ranchi in association with Arogya Bharti. We screened 98 people out of which 64 patients were found having refractive error, 9 patients were having Pterygium, 30 patients were having cataract.



VISION FOR RURAL JHARKHAND CAMPAIGN ON 25/08/2014

On the eve of 29th Eye Donation fortnight we visited Gorha Toli, a village located in Khunti district of Jharkhand in association with Bharatiya Kishan Sangh. We distributed 1000 Charity coupons to the villagers, the coordinators of Bharatiya Kishan sangh and gram pradhans of different villages.



VISION FOR YOUNG RURAL JHARKHAND CAMPAIGN FOR KHUNTI DISTRICT (For Murrhu and Adki blocks- 16-09-2014, Kalamati and Karrra Blocks – 17-08-2014, Torpa Block- 18-09-2014, Raniya Block-19-08-2014

Taking One step forward to our campaign VISION FOR RURAL JHARKHAND, we organised a four day camp in four Phases at different blocks of Khunti with the association of Jharkhand Shiksha Pariyojna Khunti and district administration Khunti.


Phase-I

On 16-09-2014 we organised eye camp at Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya located in Murhu Block. The students who were found having eye problem in the E-Chart test done by the para teachers in their schools were bought to the camp. We did eye check-up of 214 students of Government and non-Government schools of Murhu and Adki block. The Findings of the camp is as follows:
Refractive Error-100, Ambyopia-2, Conjunctival xerosis-10, Exotropia/Squint-6, Nystagmus-4, Cataract 4(Old) 1(Child), Conjuctivitis-7, Pterygium-5, Stye-2, Microcornea-1, Nevus-1
The children who were having refractive error were given free spectacles, the cataract patients were operated free of cost and students having Vitamin a deficiency were supplied free Vitamin A Capsules.


Phase-II

On 17-09-2014 we organised eye camp at Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya located in Kalamati Block. The students who were found having eye problem in the E-Chart test done by the para teachers in their schools were bought to the camp. We did eye check-up of 219 students of Government and non-Government schools of Kalamati and Karra block. The Findings of the camp is as follows:
Refractive Error-106, Ambyopia-2, Conjunctival xerosis-5, Exotropia/Squint-2, Nystagmus-4, Conjuctivitis-4, Coloboma-3, Blpehritis-2, Medarosis-1, Injury-1, Corneal opacity+dystrophy-5, Chalzion-2, Keratoconous-2

On 18-09-2014 we organised eye camp at Kishan Bhawan located in Torpa Block. The students who were found having eye problem in the E-Chart test done by the para teachers in their schools were bought to the camp. We did eye check-up of 299 students of Government and non-Government schools of Torpa block. The Findings of the camp is as follows:

Phase-IV

On 19-09-2014 we organised eye camp at Kishan Bhawan located in Torpa Block. The students who were found having eye problem in the E-Chart test done by the para teachers in their schools were bought to the camp. We did eye check-up of 251 students of Government and non-Government schools of Raniya block and also of the villagers. The Findings of the camp is as follows:
Refractive Error-140, Ambyopia-4, Conjunctival xerosis-4, Exotropia/Squint-1, Nystagmus-1, Conjuctivities-15, Cataract-22, Retinal problem-1, Chronic Dacryosystitis-1, Foreign body-1, Pterygium-2, Corneal opacity-7, Keratokonous-3

EYE SCREENING CAMP AT GURUNANAK SCHOOL, RANCHI IN ASSOCIATION WITH HINDUSTAN PAPER- 10th OCTOBER TO 11TH OCTOBER 2014

An eye check-up camp was organised at Gurunank School, Ranchi in association with Hindustan paper. We screened 78 people on the first day (10th October) out of which 52 patients were found having refractive error,7 patients were having cataract,1 patient was having Pterygium.
We did refraction of all the refractive error patients and the others were referred to the base hospital for further management.



CONCLUDING CEREMONY OF PALAMU MEGA HI-TECH CHILDHOOD AND ADULT CATARACT SURGERY PROJECT AND FREE SPECTACLES DISTRIBUTION PROJECT(18-10-2014)

After the successful completion of Palamu mega hi-tech childhood and adult cataract surgery project and free spectacles distribution project which was continued for almost 3 months we distributed 500 free spectacles to the school children screened under the campaign and also to the 17 children who were operated for cataract surgery who were identified in the camp at palamu.



NAMKUM CAMP - HUMAN TRAFFICKING & UNDER PRIVILEGED GIRLS (16th April 2015)

An eye check-up camp was organised at Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya, Namkum in association with Bharitya Kisan Sangh. We screened 177 under privileged girls and victims of Human trafficking out of which 33 girls were referred to the Kashyap Memorial Eye Hospital for refraction. 2 girls found having retinal problem, conj. Xerosis-2, squint-2



CHANHO CAMP – HUMAN TRAFFICKING & UNDER PRIVILEGED GIRLS (19th April 2015)

An eye check-up camp was organised at Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya, Chanho in association Bharitya Kisan Sangh. We screened 155 under privileged girls and victims of Human trafficking out of which 27 girls were referred to Kashyap Memorial Eye Hospital for refraction and 1 girl for cataract



MANDAR CAMP - HUMAN TRAFFICKING & UNDER PRIVILEGED GIRLS (23rd April 2015)

An eye check-up camp was organised at Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya, Mandar in association with Bharitya Kisan Sangh. We screened 124 under privileged girls and victims of Human trafficking out of which 12 girls were referred to Kashyap Memorial Eye Hospital for refraction, 4- Conj. Xerosis, 1- squint.
