The Federation of
Ophthalmic Research and Education Centres is an organization, which
has been created to promote ophthalmic services, education and
research and establish group practices. There are 45 Centres in India
and Kashyap Memorial Eye Hospital is one of the Centers from Jharkhand.
It is recognized by All India Ophthalmological Society for fellowship
for Retina and Cataract by the Academic Research Council. |

B.Sc (Hons.) Optometry
– in collaboration with IGNOU |

Mission
-
The purpose of this programme is
to develop a multipurpose ophthalmic manpower at paramedical.
-
The training will enable a
student to become a competent person in providing service as an
Optician, Optometrist, Refractionist and Ophthalmic Assistant to
the community in urban, semi-urban and rural settings in
private, semi-governmental and governmental sectors.

Academic Session
-
The
Programme will commence from July of every year.
-
The
whole programme is divided into four years and consists of
theory, practical and clinical components.

Admissions Procedure
The admissions will be made once a year. The candidates will be
admitted after an advertisement all over the country in reputed
newspapers (Hindi, English, and regional languages). The
applications should be made on prescribed form so as to reach
IGNOU before the due date. |

Eligibility
The candidates should have passed class 10+2 examination of CBSE
or equivalent with English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology with at
least 45% marks in the aggregate.
Age of Entry
Selection Criteria
-
The minimum cut-off marks will
be 45% in English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology (EPCB), in the
10+2 qualifying Examination.
-
During the selection 90%
weightage will be given to the EPCB marks and the remaining 10%
will be based on the candidate’s performance during
interview/counseling.
-
The interview/counseling will
be held in IGNOU headquarters at School of Health Sciences.

Duration
of the Programme
The minimum duration of the programme is four years. However, the
students are given a maximum period of six years to complete the
programme from the date of registration, after which the students
have to apply for readmission paying the pro rata fee for each
incomplete course.

Programme Fees
The fees payable include:Rs.25,000/- (Rupees Twenty Five Thousand)
annually. At the time of joining, an additional amount of Rs.
5000/- (Rupees five thousand) will be required to be deposited
with the institution concerned (PSC)/WC as security/caution money
which is refundable after the completion of the programme. This
fee will be retained by the PSC/WC who will refund it at the end
of the programme, on the successful completion of the course.

Medium
of Instruction
Training (both theory and practical) is provided in English. The
students should write their examination in English only.

Diploma in Ophthalmic Techniques (DOT)

Mission
The purpose of the course is to develop manpower, which could be
utilized for the implementation of National Programme of Visual
Impairment and Control of Blindness. This training will enable the
trainee to become a competent person in providing service in
ophthalmic techniques to the community in Urban, Semi-Urban and
Rural settings. |

Objective
-
To prepare
the students to assist the eye specialist in big Eye Hospitals,
Eye Health Care Units etc.
-
To enable
student to prescribe eyeball exercises to squint eyed patients
and those with muscular imbalances.
-
To enable
students to estimate errors of refraction and able to prescribe
glasses under supervision.
-
To enable
students to get themselves self-employed as opticians,
optometrists and refractionists.
-
To enable
the student to maintain ophthalmic equipment.
Academic Session
-
The course
commences on 1st November every year.
-
This is full
time course.
-
The duration
of the course is of three years, divided into six semesters
including one year of compulsory practical and clinical
training (apprenticeships)
Admission Procedure
Eligibility :
1. Admission to the course will be made once year. The candidate
should have passed class XII or an equivalent examination with
Physics, Chemistry and Biology with an aggregate of 45% marks. If
the candidate has also passed in mathematics beside the above
subjects, it will be considered as an additional qualification and
preference will be given to such candidates.
2. Candidate who have passed 10+2 of CBSE or any other Board in
Ophthalmic Techniques (as a Vocational Courses) are also eligible.
They would be given preference in admission, if otherwise found
suitable.
Note : 45% marks in aggregate in Physics, Chemistry and Biology or
in the subjects of Ophthalmic Techniques are essential. The
candidates will required to attend interview at their own expense.
Age
The candidate should have attained the
of 17 years on 1st November of the year of admission.
Applications
Applications will be invited in the
month of August-September each year.
Number of Candidates
The number of candidates normally will
be not less than four and not more than twelve per year in any
Institution. Total 6 nos. of seats are allotted for Kashyap
Memorial Eye
Hospital.

purpose of this trainee programme is to develop a multipurpose
nurses manpower at paramedical.

training will enable a student to become a competent person in
providing service as a Nurse to the community in urban,
semi-urban and rural settings in private sectors.

The admissions will be made once a year.
Age of Entry
The candidates should have attained the age of 17 years on year of
admission. There is no maximum age limit.

The minimum duration of the programme is One year.
