Cataract Services
The cataract and the IOL
department caters the general population either by sutureless
phacoemulsification technique using Alcon Legacy or White Star (AMO)
or DORC machine or appasamy phaco, or by manual SICS.
The operations are performed under standard microscopes like Lieca,
Appasamy.
The department is equipped with A-Scan ultrasonography and
keratometry for digital biometry.
We use aspheric foldable IOL to multifocal IOLs. We also do
surgery under topical anaesthesia with no pad required. |

Nd Yag Laser is also performed for
treating posterior capsterior capsular opacification with may
occur after routine cataract surgery.
Cataract surgery for children are also done regularly.

Cornea &
Contact Lens |
|
The cornea clinic is well equipped in
the diagnosis and management of infectious keratitis, dry eyes,
ocular surface disorders, corneal scars, burns, etc.
Various investigative procedures are carried out which include
microbiological workup for corneal infection, schirmer’s test,
excisional biopsies.
The department has specular microscope, pachymeter, automated
keratometer which help in detail evaluation.
The cotact lens clinic is manned by trained personnel. |

Glaucoma |
|
|
Glaucoma is a group of diseases that
leads to progressive and irreversible damage to optic nerve
characterized by normal or elevated intraocular pressuse and is
one of the leading cause of blindness in our country.
Glaucoma department is equipped with technology to aid in early
diagnosis and appropriate management of this disease.
The diagnostic modalities include pascal tonometry, applanation
tonometry, gonioscopy and slit lamp biomicroscopy for optic nerve
evaluation and visual field analyser. |

Laser assisted procedure such as ND
Yag Laser iridotomy and diode laser cyclophotocoagulation are also
done.
Surgery procedures like trabeculectomy with or without mitomycin
c, phacoemulsification with trabculectomy are performed.

Paediatric
Ophthalmology |
|
Paediatric cataract surgery with IOL
implantation is done.
Screening and Laser treatment of retinopathy of prematurity (ROP)
is also done.

Oculoplasty Squint
|
|
|
This clinic deals with diseases and
deformities related to the orbit, lacrimal system and eyelids.
Surgeries for ptosis, ectropion, and entropion along with lacrimal
sac surgery (for watering) are done regularly.
This department deals with the medical and surgical management of
squint and amblyopias.
The clinic is equipped with synaptophore which is used to measure
the angle of the squint, give orthoptic exercises and macular
stimulation exercises.
The prism bars, Maddox wing, Maddox rod are also used in
evaluation. |

Cosmetic as well as therapeutic squint
surgeries are performed here.

Uvea & Trauma |
|
Uveitis is
condition in which there is inflammation of the ocular coats.
With the help of FFA and laboratory facilities, our uvea service
can not only diagnose the ocular disorder but also the systemic
disease associated with it.
The treatment of uveitis can be a challenge due to recurrent
nature of the disease.
Chronic inflammation gives rise to complicated cataract which are
managed by phacoemulsification and heparin coated IOL.
Ocular trauma leading to globe rupture, corneal tear, scleral, lid
injury or intraocular foreign body are managed on emergency basis.

The department is
equipped with ventilators, pulse oxymeter, and resussitator. The
recovery room personnel are trained to monitor patients
postoperatively.

We have a tie up
with One Point diagnostic centre who is having a collection centre
at our premises.

Vitreo - Retinal |
|
|
The department of Vitreo - Retina
deals with ocular conditions affecting the posterior segment of
the eye. Besides indirect ophthalmoscopy and slit lamp
biomicroscopy, specialized equipments like b-scan ultrasonography
and digital fundus camera with fundus fluorescien angiography aid
in diagnosis and treatment of complex vitreo-retinal diseases.
Diseases like diabetic retinopathy, age related macular
degeneration, retinal detachment, vitreous hemorrhage are
regularly treated here.
Newer medical management with
intravitreal anti-VEGF is also done regularly.
Retinal lasers are performed using green laser (iris medical)
State of the art surgical equipments in operation theatre like
Moller- Wedel microscope with angle viewing system (eibos), DORC
total harmony vitrectomy unit, diode red laser (iris medical) and
23G suture less vitrectomy instruments (alcon) help in delivering
quality eye care to the patients. |

Spectacle Shop |

The optical shop in the hospital
premises at first floor benefit both, the doctors and the patients
It will help the patients in getting good quality genuine glasses
and frames.

Medicine Shop |
|

Medical shop is adjacent to optical
shop. Medical shop will help all the patients to get their
medicines on genuine price. It will also ensure that the medicines
are not spurious which is rampant in this area.

donations and emergency transportation of the patients.

The purpose of the course is to develop manpower, which could be
utilized for the implementation of national program of control of
blindness.
The course commences on Jan every year.
This is four full time course.

Diploma in Ophthalmic Techniques
Course approved by Director General of Health services,
Government of India
It is a three year course approved by the Delhi Govt. We are in a
process to get it recognized by the Govt. of Jharkhand. Recently
it has been recognized by IGNOU. The course of DOT will be now
B.Sc. Ophthalmic Techniques.

The hospital has two conference halls.
One is of seating capacity of 40 persons. This will be used for
the discussion on various aspects of diseases. This hall all the
latest gadgets of paper presentation and interactions. Another one
is seating capacity of the 150 persons for the purpose of big
conference etc.
