HISTORY AND FOUNDATION

The foundation of the hospital was laid by late Dr Bharat Prasad Kashyap. He completed his MBBS from Darbhanga Medical College and Hospital in 1955. He did his Masters of Surgery (Eye) from DMCH, Bihar in 1958 & D.L.O in 1962 from PMCH, Patna. He was appointed as Civil Assistant Surgeon in 1956.
He was State Officer Trachoma Control Pilot Project in Bihar and Aligarh in 1960. Assistant Professor in R.M.C.H. from 1962 to 1965 & Associate Professor from 1965 to 1975. He became Professor and Head of the Department from 1975 onwards.

He had a wide vision & conducted blindness relief camps wherever posted. He happened to be the flag bearer for many new procedures that were adopted by the ophthalmologists in India. He was one of the foremost Ophthalmologist to start 10/0 Nylon stitches &Intra ocular lens implantation during cataract surgery.
He was the first to start Cornea Transplant in this region in 1979 & amongst the pioneers for combined cataract & glaucoma surgery He began operating through the microscope from 1979.He was an excellent teacher and an exemplary father and husband.

Legacy

The Kashyaps have been pioneers in the field of Professional Eye Care in Eastern India With a unique legacy of 50 years and 4 generations of providing quality eye care to the community.
It started with Late (Prof) Dr. T. B. Gupta (Grand Father of Dr. Bharti Kashyap) , FRCS, Edinburgh who was Professor and H.O.D of Eye Department in Darbhanga Medical College Hospital and later became Director of Health, Bihar.

Under his expert guidance his son Late Dr.Vinod Shankar Gupta became the Professor Of Ophthalmology in DMCH.
His student Late Dr. Bharat Prasad Kashyap (Father of Dr. B. P. Kashyap) became the HOD in RMCH, Ranchi.

The credit for transformation of Kashyap Memorial Eye Hospital from an Eye clinic established in 1966 by Late Dr. Bharat Prasad Kashyap to an all new super specialty Eye Hospital goes to his son and daughter- in- law Dr. B.P Kashyap & Dr. Bharti Kashyap.

Kashyap Memorial Eye Hospital Pvt. Ltd. today is a NABH accredited Eye Super-specialty Centre synonymous with state of art equipment and the highest level of professional excellence and ethical values in ophthalmic care.

This excellence is now continued by Dr.Bibhuti P. Kashyap. He did his M.D Ophthalmology from AIIMS, New Delhi & later pursued Senior Residency in AIIMS.
He being the fourth generation of Kashyap family will further boost the mission of bringing light into the life of deprived ones across Jharkhand & India
